About

Muskoka Hockey was founded in 2020 by NHLer, Sam Gagner with a vision to grow hockey within the Muskoka region. Fundamentally focused on leading individuals to achieve their true potential both on and off the ice, Sam’s overall vision for Muskoka Hockey is to become the premier on-ice training program  Nestled in the stunning natural beauty of Muskoka,

Muskoka Hockey Camp awaits young players eager to hone their skills and make lasting memories. MHC offers a unique experience that combines high-level hockey training with the joys of summer camp. Expert coaches guide players through drills and scrimmages, helping them develop their skills and gain confidence on the ice. When not on the rink, campers enjoy a range of fun activities, such as swimming, ropes courses, sport courts, campfires and much more. The camaraderie and teamwork fostered at this summer hockey camp create a positive and inclusive environment, where players can forge friendships and build character. With its idyllic setting and top-notch coaching, this summer hockey camp in Muskoka is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that young players will never forget.


  • Sam Gagner, Muskoka Hockey

    Sam Gagner Founder MHG

    Sam, a seasoned professional hockey player with 16 years of experience, currently showcases his skills as a member of the Edmonton Oilers. He was initially selected in the first round, sixth overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. After spending seven years with the Oilers, Sam embarked on a journey that saw him play for the Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Vancouver Canucks. In 2019, he returned to the Edmonton Oilers before joining the Red Wings at the start of the 2020 season. Sam’s love for hockey ignited at a young age, greatly influenced by his father, Dave Gagner, who enjoyed a successful 16-year career in the NHL. For the past five years, Sam has organized and hosted Summer Camps catering to elite hockey players. With the establishment of the Muskoka Hockey Group, Sam envisions nurturing young athletes to reach an elite level while also providing underprivileged youth with opportunities to develop their own passion for sports.

    Bryan Marshall, Muskoka Hockey

    Bryan Marshall Director

    Bryan Marshall has established himself as a highly regarded and in-demand high performance coach within the industry, renowned for his extensive knowledge. With numerous years of experience, he has honed his skills while working with top-tier athletes across renowned organizations such as the London Knights, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Vancouver Canucks. Currently serving as the Director of Applied Sports Science for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, Bryan has dedicated over 15 seasons to the team. Additionally, he has emerged as a trusted resource for numerous elite hockey professionals, including Mark Giordano, Sean Monahan, Nazem Kadri, Vince Dunn, Connor Brown, Scott Laughton, Josh Leivo, and several others, providing them with invaluable support in optimizing their performance.

    Gord Grace, Muskoka Hockey

    Gord Grace Director

    Gord Grace is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Ontario University Athletics (OUA), a role he has served in for the past seven years. Throughout his professional career, Gord has been well ingrained in the university sport scene, with nearly two decades of experience in the sport industry in an executive role, having previously worked at the university and national levels as well. Prior to joining the OUA, Gord held leadership roles in University Sport including Director of Athletic at University of Windsor and Head Football Coach at Mount Allison University. Gord received his Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo before venturing south of the border to the University of Michigan to earn his Master of Science (MSc) in Sports Management. At the present time Gord is course lecturer at Georgian College and Humber College in their respective Sport Faculty and Business faculties. Gord currently serves as a volunteer on several Boards including Ontario Sport Network, Canadian Council of Provincial & Territorial Sport Federations and Football Canada

    Brady Leavold, Muskoka Hockey

    Brady Leavold Coach

    Retired professional hockey player, with 10+ years experience spanning the WHL, AHL and ECHL. In 2008, after a career year with the Kelowna Rockets, Brady was signed to the Tampa Bay Lightning. After summer training camp with Tampa, Brady subsequently moved to play with the Norfolk Admirals where he suffered a life changing injury that in turn led him down a path of many different directions. Based on his experiences in hockey and in life Brady has continued to make a career as a mental health advocate within the hockey community. In 2020, Leavold started a podcast called “Hockey to Hell and Back”, later founding the Puck Support clothing line and Puck Support Network Non-Profit Organization which work together to ignite change in mental health and substance misuse. Brady is looking forward to using his passion and knowledge of the game combined with his individual training philosophy to creating a positive environment for young and professional athletes alike in his second season with the Muskoka Hockey Group.

    Kevin Swaka, Muskoka Hockey

    Kevin and his family reside and operate within the Muskoka Region, engaging with their local community. With a wealth of experience as a Camp Director, Kevin successfully led the Schools & Groups Program at Muskoka Woods, a prominent youth development institution in Canada. Additionally, as a former collegiate athlete in the United States, Kevin possesses a deep-rooted passion for sports and recognizes the significant role that coaches play in shaping the character and fostering the growth of young individuals.

    Anthony Moore, Muskoka Hockey

    Anthony Moore Performance Coach

    Anthony joins the Muskoka Hockey Group from the Florida Panthers, where he serves as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. His role at Muskoka Hockey is to deliver off-ice training while cultivating a high-performance mindset for physical preparation. With experience and education across three continents, Anthony brings a global perspective to his work. Passionate about athlete development and motor learning, Anthony is dedicated to helping individuals reach their true potential. He has an extensive background in delivering off-season programs to players at various levels, including AAA, Junior, OHL, AHL, KHL, and NHL since 2012. Holding an undergraduate degree from York University, a Master’s degree from Bond University, and qualifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Anthony is currently pursuing a PhD at Leeds Beckett University, UK, further enhancing his expertise in the field.

    Camp & Training Facilities

    At Muskoka Hockey Camps, young players have access to top-notch facilities for both on-ice training and off-ice workouts. The on-ice development program at Humphrey Arena is designed to help players improve their skating, stickhandling, shooting, and game sense, with expert coaches providing personalized feedback and guidance. Off the ice, players have access at Rosseau Lake College to a fully-equipped gym and training area, with state-of-the-art equipment for strength and conditioning exercises. But the camp experience doesn’t end there – campers also head over to Muskoka Woods to enjoy a range of exciting activities, from a challenging ropes course to thrilling games of paintball. Swimming, sailing, kayaking, and other water sports, giving campers the chance to explore the beautiful Muskoka region while having fun and staying active.

    Rosseau Lake College offers world-class facilities for academic, athletic, and personal growth. From state-of-the-art classrooms to top-notch sports fields and lakeside amenities, the college provides a comprehensive and enriching experience for campers.

    HUMPHREY ARENA

    Humphrey Arena, located a ten-minute bus ride from Rosseau Lake College, offers excellent ice hockey training and games, creating a welcoming and friendly environment for young players to hone their skills.

    MUSKOKA WOODS

    Muskoka Woods is an idyllic summer camp that offers unparalleled facilities for fun and adventure. With over 1,100 acres of pristine forest, waterfront, and sports fields, campers have access to a vast range of activities and experiences, from zip-lining and rock climbing to swimming, paintball and more.
