Founded in 2020 by NHLer Sam Gagner, Muskoka Hockey aims to grow the sport in the Muskoka region by helping individuals reach their full potential on and off the ice.

This summer camp offers young players a unique blend of high-level training and outdoor adventure. Expert coaches guide them through drills and scrimmages while fostering skills and confidence. Campers also enjoy activities like swimming, ropes courses, and campfires, promoting camaraderie in a positive, inclusive environment. With its beautiful setting and dedicated coaching, Muskoka Hockey provides an unforgettable experience for young players.

With a rich blend of experience from the NHL, coaching, sports management, and youth development, the team is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Each member brings unique expertise, from elite training techniques to mentorship and community engagement, ensuring that players not only enhance their skills but also build lasting friendships and character. Together, they are committed to creating an exceptional hockey experience that inspires the next generation of players.

Sam Gagner, Muskoka Hockey

Sam Gagner, a seasoned professional hockey player with 16 years of experience, currently plays for the Edmonton Oilers. Drafted sixth overall by the Oilers in 2007, he spent seven years with the team before playing for the Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Vancouver Canucks. He returned to the Oilers in 2019 and joined the Red Wings at the start of the 2020 season. Inspired by his father, NHL veteran Dave Gagner, Sam has organized elite summer hockey camps for the past five years. Through Muskoka Hockey Group, he aims to nurture young athletes and provide opportunities for underprivileged youth to pursue their passion for sports.

Bryan Marshall, Muskoka Hockey

BRYAN MARSHALL

Bryan Marshall is a highly regarded high-performance coach known for his extensive expertise. With years of experience, he has worked with top athletes from organizations like the London Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Vancouver Canucks. Currently, he serves as the Director of Applied Sports Science for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, dedicating over 15 seasons to the team. Bryan is a trusted resource for elite players, including Mark Giordano and Sean Monahan, providing invaluable support to optimize their performance.

Gord Grace, Muskoka Hockey

GORD GRACE

DIRECTOR

Gord Grace is the President and CEO of Ontario University Athletics (OUA), a position he has held for seven years. With nearly two decades in executive roles in university sports, he has previously served as Director of Athletics at the University of Windsor and Head Football Coach at Mount Allison University. Gord earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science in Sports Management from the University of Michigan. He also lectures at Georgian College and Humber College, and volunteers on several boards, including the Ontario Sport Network and Football Canada.

Brady Leavold, Muskoka Hockey

Brady Leavold is a retired professional hockey player with over 10 years of experience in the WHL, AHL, and ECHL. After a standout season with the Kelowna Rockets, he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008 but later faced a life-changing injury while playing for the Norfolk Admirals. Drawing from his experiences, Brady has become a mental health advocate in the hockey community, launching the podcast “Hockey to Hell and Back” in 2020 and founding the Puck Support clothing line and nonprofit organization. In his second season with Muskoka Hockey Group, he aims to create a positive environment for young and professional athletes.

Kevin Swaka, Muskoka Hockey

Kevin and his family reside and operate within the Muskoka Region, engaging with their local community. With a wealth of experience as a Camp Director, Kevin successfully led the Schools & Groups Program at Muskoka Woods, a prominent youth development institution in Canada. Additionally, as a former collegiate athlete in the United States, Kevin possesses a deep-rooted passion for sports and recognizes the significant role that coaches play in shaping the character and fostering the growth of young individuals.
